The Electric Amish

Seriously though... since when did the Amish discover the internet? If you search amazon.com for dinette sets there's over 400 made by the Amish! Did I miss something? Have the Amish arisen from their humble roots to take over our world?

  • Most likely you are dealing with middle-men acting as distributors. People buy the Amish work and then sell it elsewhere. A couple of years ago one of my uncles bought a dining set and desk from the local Amish and they were still producing and selling them the old fashioned way then. The Amish have the ability to make a lot of furniture, someone else has probably figured out a way to help sell the Amish furniture and make a little profit for themselves.

Btw, I'm in the new house and finally have phone and internet again. Ring ring?

  • hehe you can call any time but Monkey made this post, not me :) -

We're going to be running a few errands today after I get a cup of jo in me (it's 11 now and no coffee yet! :O )

So glad you're in the house! Congrats honey! We'll have to figure out a way to send you a house warming gift.

  • Some how I can't see Jacob Stoltzfus booting up his laptop to post his newest dinette set for sale. But it does seem a little like cheating that they can sell their stuff to other people who sell it online. What happened to staying away from Modern Society?

I have the perfect gift for the Java Junkie, look here-

  • lol, guess I wasn't being very attentive after all. It just goes to show how many brain cells this building process (especially the end) has destroyed. Looks like tomorrow afternoon is going to be a better bet for a call. The house is currently swarming with workers trying to finish the last punchlist items. They keep interrupting me to ask questions, which wouldn't be bad except that I'm on the phone with customers who want to know where I've been the past few days and with utilities and such to get old accounts closed or moved and new accounts opened. The punchlist has to be done today so the bank can sign off tomorrow. So if tomorrow afternoon is good for you (jj) I'll give you a call then.

Monkey, could you give jj an extra hug from me (I know she needs all she can get). And congrats to both of you on your move.
